General Description: Come and enjoy 300 years of ambience and character at our Grade II listed guest house. Awarded Four Stars under VisitBritain National Quality Assurance Standard we are able to offer guests a very high standard of accommodation and cleanliness.Allison and David look forward to being able to welcome you to our lovely home making your stay both comfortable and enjoyable.There are seven very comfortable bedrooms (three doubles, two twins and two singles). Two rooms have full private bathrooms (we supply the bath robe). All other rooms are fully en-suite and are equipped with colour TV, hair dryer, alarm clock radio, bathroom toiletries, teacoffee making facilities and central heating. Ironing facilities and a trouser press are available.Guests spend a very restful night in the attractive bedrooms and awake to have a sumptuous English breakfast in the inglenook dining room. A menu led full English breakfast betweek 08.00am and 09.00am. On Sundays and Bank Holidays it is served at the later time of 08.30am - 09.30am. Vegetarian and Vegan alternatives are available as well as breakfast Specials.Guest are encouraged to use the pretty garden at the rear. It is South facing and fully enclosed by a high flint wall on one side and the west wing of the house on the other. It is very restful sitting by the pond, in the sun, listening to the water cascading down the waterfall. What could be better than sitting in the garden in the late afternoon or evening with a glass of wine (you supply the wine, we supply the garden, the glasses and the lighting).There is parking for up to four cars in an open area at the rear of the Guest House as well as a double garage which offers overnight security for cars and more vulnerable conveyances such as motor cycles and bicycles. Directions by Car, Motorcycle and Bicycle.From Devon and Cornwall:Just follow main A30 all the way to Chard. The guest house is approximately 1 mile from the 30mph sign on the right, opposite the Museum.From the North:M5 take Junction 25 and then the A358 signed Chard. Follow this road all the way to the A303 roundabout and take the last exit signed A358 to Chard. Follow this road all the way into Chard, past Focus DIY, until you reach the traffic lights at the main crossroads. Turn right and travel uphill for approximately 400 metres through the town centre and you will see the Ammonite Lodge sign on the left just after the junction with a road called Crowshute Link.From the East:Travel along the A303 until you reach the roundabout where the A303 meets the A358. Take the third exit marked A358 to Chard and follow the same route as described above.If you choose to travel to Chard via the A30 from Yeovil, after passing the Chard town sign you will travel approximately 400 metres when you will come to a roundabout and you will see on your left a large Tesco store. Go straight on at the roundabout until you reach the traffic lights at the main crossroads. Go straight on at the crossroads and travel uphill through the town centre for approximately 400 metres and you will see the Ammonite Lodge sign on the left just after the junction with a road called Crowshute Link.You can also take the A35 from Dorchester where you have the choice of taking the A35 to Axminster and then onto Chard or the A37 to Yeovil and then follow the same directions for the A30 approach. If travelling from Axminster follow the A358 (North) and stay on this road all the way to the traffic lights at the mian crossroads and turn left. Follow the road uphill for approximately 400 metres until you see the Ammonite Lodge sign on your left.Directions by Train and BusTrains from London Waterloo and Clapham Junction stop at Crewkerne and Axminster Rail Stations and some routes from the North and London Paddington arrive at Taunton Rail Station. Taxis and buses run from all of these locations. If you contact Chard Tourist Information Centre on 01460 65710 they should be able to provide you with the latest bus timetables.
