General Description: Forest Side is set within 42 acres of beautifully landscaped, wooded gardens. These gardens provide a stunning and fruitful home to deer, Herdwick sheep and lambs, red squirrels, a badger sett and of course rabbits! A menagerie now you can be a part of! Inside you will be greeted by a warm friendly smile and in cooler weather, a roaring log fire (of which there are four) which are regularly lit.A guest of the long-standing house of Forest Side has the choice of three large lounges to relax, unwind and enjoy a drink in, with the company of friends new and old. Our comfortable bar lounge with views of the surrounding fells is the ideal location to sit and enjoy a selection of home cooked foods from our Bistro menu. Sweep up our grand staircase to find a range of rooms from singles to twins to four posters. Alternatively, a short walk back down the drive brings you to Grasmere Lodge, where our self catering accommodation and some standard hotel rooms are to be found. Please note reception closes at 9pm for check in. Directions from the South Take the M6 to junction 36. Follow the A591A65 in the direction of Kendal. Bypass Kendal by staying on the A591. Drive through Windermere, Ambleside and Rydal. As you approach Grasmere go straight across the roundabout (do NOT turn left into Grasmere village). We are about 34 mile along the A591 on the right, just as the speed limit changes to 30 miles per hour.Directions from the NorthTake the M6 to junction 40. Take the A 66 in the direction of Keswick (North Lakes). At Threlkeld turn left (just past the White Horse pub) and take the B5322 (this is signposted for Windermere and St Johns in the Vale). This will cut off the approach to Keswick and leads onto the A591. Follow the A591 towards Windermere and Grasmere. Pass the Swan Hotel on the left. The entrance to our drive is immediately after Our Lady of the Wayside church on the left.
