General Description: Mutiara Pedu Lake Resort stands majestically on two islands in the 75-sq km man-made lake, surrounded by one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests. A 20-metre bridge links the north and south islands. The Resort presents a serene and calm atmosphere perfect for a tranquil holiday. It offers international-class comforts in a traditional setting. Its 205 chalets including suites are designed along Kedah-Thai wooden houses on stilts, with some standing in the placid waters of the lake. The Resort comes with an interesting and challenging 18-hole par 72 golf course nestled between the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest and the shoreline of the placid lake with several holes extending into the forest.Pedu Lake is located in the northern state of Kedah, Malaysia. It lies at latitude 6 degrees 15 minutes, longitude 100 degrees 46 minutes at the height of 59.0 meters above mean sea level. It is approximately 5 kilometer from the Malaysian-Thai border, 90 kilometer east of Alor Star. From Alor Star, head east through the towns of Langgar, Pokok Sena and Kuala Nerang. Travel time is approximately one and a half hours. From Gurun along the North South Expressway head east through the town of Jeniang, Sik. The lake has the characteristics of a sea with both low tide and high tide. At maximum water level, the lake is 97.5m deep (320 feet).This man-made lake, is 75 sq km in area, is surrounded by primary tropical rainforests.
