General Description: The Parador, built in convent style, rises up on what was the former hospital of St. John the Baptist, a historical 15th c. building. It is a comfortable, friendly space, with whitewashed arches adorned with vegetation, an invitation to peace and quiet in the setting of a beautiful town declared a Historical and artistic monument. The garden stands out with its luxuriant plants and flowers,its secluded swimming pool, spacious common rooms on the inside with white walls, and bedrooms which recall the religious function of its origins.
The Hotel sits atop what was the old 15th century San Juan Bautista Hospital and the former 16th century Infantes or grammar school - important learning centres for medical surgery and grammar respectively. The hotel is located in the old town and has been declared a heritage site facing the world heritage site of the town of Guadalupe.The garden - a true orchard of plants and flowers -, the Gothic and Mudjar cloisters, the secluded pool and the large white-walled indoor spaces truly standout. In the dining room: monastic cod, almond and garlic gazpacho, Extremadura migas (fried breadcrumbs with meat and spices) and La Serena cheesecake. The Parador is located in the heart of the town, next to the Royal Monastery, a World Heritage site. The reference point from Madrid (A-5) and the north of the mainland (N-630) is Navalmoral de la Mata, 65 km. from the Parador. From Cceres take the N-521 to Trujillo where we head to Zorita (EX208) and Logrosan-Guadalupe (EX102). Coming from Portugal, Badajoz and the southern mainland, head to Mrida on the N-630. Go for Madrid (A-5) and come off towards Ciudad Real (N-430) to Obando, where we go to the left on the EX116 to Guadalupe.
