General Description: The construction of the city began in 1264 following the defeat of the Bhil chieftains. It reached its present size only in the 17th century when Rao Madho Singh, was made the ruler of Kota by the Mughul Emperor, Jehangir.Kota is equally well known for its kota doria sarees and miniature paintings that often depict hunting scenes.
